Privacy notice

This explains what this website collects, why, and what happens to it. The Committee of Defence is responsible for this information.

Visiting the site

Reading these pages does not create an account, and the site sets no cookies. It uses no analytics or advertising trackers, and it loads nothing from other companies.

Like every web server, ours records basic technical details of each request, such as the address of the connection and the page asked for. These records are kept by our hosting provider for up to [SERVER LOG RETENTION] and are used only to keep the site running and secure.

Sending a contact request

If you use the contact form, we receive only what you type in it:

  • how we can reach you;
  • when it is safe to contact you, if you say;
  • whether we may name ourselves when we contact you;
  • your short note, if you write one.

We use this only to reply to you. The request is encrypted as soon as it arrives. The key to read it is not kept on the website, so the request cannot be read there, even by us.

To stop the form being misused, we also keep a one-way scrambled form of your connection’s address for 24 hours. It cannot be turned back into the address, and it is deleted automatically.

We rely on [LAWFUL BASIS] to use this information. We keep contact requests for [CONTACT REQUEST RETENTION], then delete them.

Who sees it

Only the people inside the Committee of Defence who handle first contact. We do not sell it or share it for marketing. We share it with anyone else only if the law requires it or someone’s life is at risk.

Your rights

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Write to [PRIVACY CONTACT]. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
